(2) Solar-assisted building cooling using a dry-cooled absorption heat pump (+)

A Madrid-based university has developed a cooling system based on absorption heat pumps. This technology allows overcoming the technical limitations of the currently available commercial systems, which lose efficiency as ambient temperature increases. This novel system overcomes this barrier, and does not require a wet cooling tower to operate. They are seeking commercial partners to collaborate in the further development of the current prototype into a marketable device.

(3) Thin and flexible paper battery for industrial use and consumer-related products (+)

A Finnish SME manufacturers thin paper batteries made of environmentally friendly industrial materials. The battery provides stable low-voltage power for disposable micro-electronic devices such as active RFID, smart cards, medical and cosmetic patches, intelligent packaging, and sensors. The paper battery is flexible and can replace button cell batteries where thinness or environmental friendliness is required. (4) High-throughput epitaxial reactor for large-scale production of wafers for the photovoltaic industry (+)

A Spanish public university has developed an epitaxial reactor able to produce wafers with a very high throughput and a very low cost. These wafers are those that are used, mainly, for the processing of photovoltaic cells used in solar modules. The novel method is able to increase substantially the efficiency of silicon CVD systems. (7) Evaluation of a novel system to control and monitor geographically distributed power generators (+)

Engineers from a prestigious London-based university have developed a technology that allows users to monitor and control power generators located in geographically independent locations. This technology is currently being tested at the university site, using the network of solar panels available there. They are requesting industrial partners from the sector of renewable energies and power networks interested in evaluating and using this Grid Computing-based technology.

(9) Advanced glazing for facades with an integrated solar control and solar thermal collector (+)

A French start-up has developed a new technology (patented) of complex glazing for facades. Its complex glazing is a half-transparent insulated glass with an integrated fixed Venetian blind and a fully effective solar collector. It has to be integrated in the façade as a glass unit in standard windows or facade profiles on the market (aluminium, wood or PVC). The company is looking for industrial partners (glass or solar manufacturer) for technical co-operation or manufacturing agreement.

(10) Anaerobic fermenter plant (digester) for efficient treatment of biomass (waste) (+)
