Las Células T memoria: un enigma aún por esclarecer

In this revision, it is discussed about the origin and survival of memory T cells, essentials for the operation of the immune system whose compression of implied mechanisms will give rise to better strategies for the vaccine development. The discussion is centered on recent results that indicate the importance of certain cytokines (IL-7 and IL-15) in these processes during the immune response, mainly in the T CD8 cells, which have been characterized better than the T CD4 cells. The revision is structured according to the activation sequence of immune response in presence of an antigen: the role of cytokines in initial T cells activation, through the contraction phase to memory-cell development and maintenance. Also, it is discussed the cytokine implication on the HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) immunopathology, which can give better clarify about the processes involved the memory-cells in this infection.
